Unforgettable Melt-in-your-Mouth Food at Lachi's

Continuing on our series on Davao City to commemorate its founding as a chartered city 73 years ago this month, today we feature Lachi's-- gourmet food at affordable prizes, located in Ruby St, Marfori Heights Subdivision here in Davao City.

We didn't realize that it's been about a year since we last ate at Lachi's until our guests from Luzon asked about durian cheesecake, and not just any durian cheesecake but Lachi's Durian Cheesecake.  They learned about it from a friend who requested that they buy one as pasalubong for her.  Well, you really never know how lucky you are until someone craves for something you can easily get.

After the crab buffet treat at Glamor, we proceeded to Lachi's for coffee/tea and dessert.  It was then that I realized that our friends will missed out on a chance to try Lachi's specialty dishes, having pigged out during our two-hour lunch. One of our guests was actually a bit giddy (happily at that) having consumed much more than the normal serving of crabs, which is always a challenge when presented with too much of a good thing, especially if it's a favorite.

We immediately asked for brewed coffee and a piece of the famous durian cheesecake.  Just a piece?  Yes, it was a difficult decision for we were surrounded by so much appetizing treats...sans rival, creme brulee cake, mud pie, other cheesecakes, and so much more.  Actually, in my understanding, Lachi's is first known for their pastry treats...as only the finest ingredients go into their creations.

Confident that we can resist temptation and just settle for brewed coffee and tea (Lachi's have a wide selection of tea, I had blueberry no-caffeine herbal tea), we shared the piece of durian cheesecake.  We even played a game of dice to settle who's gonna get the durian topping (bad idea!).

As you can imagine, there was, of course, a declared winner, which happened to be Mama Sez, but when someone asked for a small piece of that small piece of topping from her, everyone just went for it!

The verdict-- it gets even better as the taste lingers in your mouth.  Now we know why visitors and locals alike rave about Lachi's Durian Cheesecake.  Obviously convinced with two thumbs up unanimous rating, our guests inquired about how the cake should be handled as they are not due to leave for another day. They promised themselves to come back for the pasalubong cake and to try other cakes and the meals we recommended.

We recommended those that we have tried before, which are actually two of Lachi's most popular meals (these may come with rice or as a sandwich)-- Unforgettable Grilled Pork Ribs and Elsie's Melt-in-your-Mouth Roast Pork (and looking through the menu, we're reminded again that we have so many more dishes and cakes to try next time).

We guarantee that both indeed lived up to their catchy names and you're definitely gonna love these unique unforgettable treats that are only found here in Davao City...at Lachi's.
